Abstract

Objective To evaluate the role of intravascular ultrasound(IVUS) in drug-eluting stent(DES) implantation. Methods A total of 251 patients with DES were divided into two groups. In group Ⅰ(n=146),DES were implanted by coronary angiography(CAG) only;group Ⅱ(n=115),IVUS was used to evaluate the lesions and the effects. Results In group Ⅱ,61 DES(53.0%) were optimum by CAG,but did not achieve the criteria of IVUS,additional higher-pressure post-dilatation was necessary. After that, the difference in the highest dilation pressure(14.27±1.14) atm vs(18.62±0.63) atm(P0.01),the stent symmetric index(13.9±1.5) % vs(4.1±1.2) %(P0.01),the stent inflation index(76.0±3.4) % vs(95.2±4.2) %(P0.01) were obvious.Between the two groups, there was obvious difference in stent diameter(2.97±0.41) mm vs(3.45±0.32) mm(P0.01),stent-length(21.00±3.23) mm vs(25.00±4.17) mm(P0.01),and the highest pressure of dilatation(14.23±1.25) atm vs(18.62±0.63) atm(P0.01).Conclusion IVUS is valuble in guiding DES implantation.
