Abstract
Objective: To observe the blood lipid level and its related factors among Chongqing officials. Methods: The serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels obtained in a recent health survey for 5 554 public officials in urban area of Chongqing were analyzed. Results: The prevalence rate of hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia and mixed hyperlipidemia was 8.8%, 18.1% and 9.0%, respectively. People with hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia and combined hyperlipidemia had a significantly higher prevalence rate of high blood pressure, diabetes, hyperuricemia, coronary heart diseases and fatty liver compared to people in blood lipid normal groups (P0.05). Conclusion: Public officials in urban areas of Chongqing suffer a higher prevalence of hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia and mixed hyperlipidemia. The blood lipid levels are intimately related with diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.
