Abstract
Objective To establish a novel rat model of liver injury induced by carbon tetrachloride, ethanol, and porcine serum. Methods A total of 56 healthy male rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: A,B,C,D,and E.Group A to D were model groups, while group E was a normal control group.Except for the normal control group, the rats in other 4 groups were fed drugs by complex factors for 4 weeks. The serum levels of AST and ALT were examined every week.At the end of the last week, the liver tissues were obtained from the rats and observed under electron microscopes. Results The serum levels of ALT and AST of group A to D were all significantly different from those in the normal control group(P0.05 or P0.01).Histopathological section of the liver showed that the liver of the model groups were all injured to different degrees. Conclusion An ideal liver injury model in rats is induced by porcine serum, carbon tetrachloride and alcohol.
