On the three layers of context and English-Chinese discourse translation

Abstract

Setting out from the theory about context in systemic functional linguistics,this paper mainly discusses its enlightenment on the study of discourse translation.Firstly,the relevance of context theory to discourse translation is revealed after a general account of its emerging,developing and classification.Secondly,according to the detailed analysis of the three layers of context,the author expounds the guiding function of each layer in discourse translation,especially in deciding the meaning of source language and the expressional form of target language.
