Emperor Hanyuan and Confucian Classics

Emperor Hanyuan received good education in study of Confucian classics, had solid foundation of Confucian classics and especially was good at The Book of Songs. He honored Confucian teachers and looked high upon Confucian learning. Owing to his energetically encouraging, the whole society studying Confucianism became the order of the day i the theory of The Book of Songs also became the leading ruling theory. Emperor Yuan loved Confucianism, he appointed government officials according to the elementary criterion of being good at study of classics and good moral character; as a result , Confucian scholars almost occupied all positions in the royal court. His contribution to study of Confucian classics lied in making Confucianism completely replace the mixed ruling way of 'hegemony' by studying classics, paying great attention to Confucianism and administering the country with Confucianism.
