Abstract

Objective To explore the value of detecting Erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) and C-reactive protein(CRP) in children for differential diagnosis of early infection. Methods Blood routine,ESR and the content of CRP in serum were detected, which in 82 infected children and 15 normal children for health examination. Results The CRP and WBC in the bacterial infection group dramatically step up with statistically significant difference(P0.001),in comparison with which in the viral infection and control group.ESR of bacterial group and that of viral group all step up,but the former does dramatically.CRP is better than ESR in specificity and sensitivity. Conclusion In children's acute infection, detection of CRP,ESR and White cell count is helpful to differential diagnosis of diseases at early stage, and it is of some value in differential diagnosis between the bacterial and viral infection.
