SURVEY ON ADULT HBV INFECTION SITUATION IN WUXI

[Objective] To determine the seroprevalence of hepatitis B virus(HBV) antibodies and the corresponding risk factors among adults in Wuxi,in order to search the prevention and control strategy for adult HBV infection.[Methods] A questionnaire was taken to 3 744 adults older than 20 years selected by cluster sampling method,with blood samples to test serologic markers for hepatitis B:HbsAg,HBsAb,HBeAg,HBeAb and HBcAb.[Results] Among those who aged over 20 years,the standardized positive rate of HBsAg,anti-HBs and anti-HBc was 4.46%,48.34%,49.88%,respectively.Also the total standardized infection rate of HBV was 49.88%.These results indicated among different age,sex,occupation,immunization and also the family history,there was notable change in infection mode.Old age group,male,retirement and house work,no immunization and family history could bring on high HBV infection rate.[Conclusion] There is a middle HBV prevalence in Wuxi,with higher infection rate among adults.We emphasize vaccination is an effective and scientific strategy to reduce adult HBV infection rate and even the incidence rate.
