Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of endodontic-orthodontic combined treatment for anterior teeth with crown-root fracture. Methods 21 anterior teeth with crown-root fracture were selected. After complete root canal therapy had been finished, orthodontic extrusion exerted a force along the root axis of the tooth to achieve the ideal condition of post crown, then surgical crown lengthening and restoration were done. Results 2mm~5mm extrusion were seen in 21 teeth, with 4~8weeks taken in average;three years later, the relative position of some teeth or gingivae had a little change and root apices of all teeth were normal. Conclusion The combination of endodontic-orthodontic treatment is an effective choice of restoration additionally used for anterior teeth with crown-root fracture. When the patient is under 18 years old,the period of retention should be longer and temporary crown is needed.
