Abstract
Energy intensity is one of important indicator to measure energy efficiency,the lower energy intensity the higher energy efficiency.In order to find the dominant effect of energy intensity change of Xinjiang,this paper uses the index decomposition model of Refined Laspeyres to analysis energy intensity of Xinjiang from 1985 to 2005.The result is that intensity effect is the main reason of energy efficiency improvement since the Reform and Opening Up.However the shift of industry structure had no positive impact on energy intensity changes.Energy intensity improvement of industry caused intensity effect;furthermore energy intensity improvement of heavy industry reserved the adverse impact of heavy industry weight rise on energy efficiency of industry.Therefore,we should vigorously support energy-saving technological progress in the heavy industry sector and develop the tertiary industry with lower energy consumption at the same time
