Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of the expressions of P-gp,GST-π,Topo-Ⅱ and LRP proteins in primary ovarian carcinoma. Methods The expressions of P-gp,GST-π,Topo-Ⅱ and LRP proteins in 80 tissue samples of primary ovarian carcinoma,16 benign ovarian tumor and 12 normal ovarian were determined by S-P immunohistochemical technique and the results were analyzed. Results The positive expression of P-gp,GST-π,Topo-Ⅱ and LRP proteins in 80 patients with ovarian carcinoma were 57.5%,58.8%,76.3% and 73.8%,significantly higher than those in the benign ovarian tumor and normal ovarian tissues(P0.05).The expressions of P-gp,GST-π and LRP was correlated with clinical stages(P0.05),while the expressions of GST-π and Topo-Ⅱ were correlated with pathological grades(P0.05).There were no significant correlation of the expressions of P-gp,GST-л,Topo-Ⅱ and LRP with other clinicopathological parameters, including age, pathological type, size of the tumor and the residual lesion(P 0.05).Conclusion Combined determination of multidrug resistance proteins P-gp,GST-π,Topo-Ⅱand LRP may be useful for predicting the chemo-sensitivity of ovarian carcinoma.
