Many of Zhang Jie's novels, which are dominated by her personality, share a spiritual and emotional implication. Her early novels centered on the conflict of human spirit and later ones switched to the depiction of the fight against the vulgarity of realistic life. With the further study of art, Zhang Jie took up more space in her literary works to display how the external power upset the psychological balance of characters, which constitutes an important change of her aesthetic thought in her novels.
