Observation on K-ras Mutation in Pancreatic Juice from Patients withPancreatic Carcinoma and Detecting CEA in Diagnosis of Pancreatic Carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To investigate the value of K-ras mutation in pancreatic juice and CEA in blood for diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Methods K-ras point mutation was detected using the polymerase chain raction and restriction fragment-length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) in pure pancreatic juice (PPJ), which were collected from the pancreatic duct under endoscopic retrograde clolangio-pancreatic tography (ERCP). Results The positivity of K-ras point mutation in PPJ was 64.3% (18/28). Positivity of CEA in blood was 78.6%(22/28): Both were positive in 16 patients. And 6 cases tumor were less than 2 cm. Conclusion It suggested that PPJ could be possibly obtained during ERCP, K-ras point mutation in pancreatic juice accompanying by CEA positive indicated that patients were at high risk for the development of pancreatic carcinoma.
