Abstract
Objective:To assess the safety, feasibility and the curative effect of treatment with minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy(mini-PCNL) in Solitary kidney calculi.Methods:A restrospective investigation was going on 26 cases suffering from solitary kidney calculi, who were treated with minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy from February 2002 to June 2006.Results:Of 26 cases, 80.5% stone-free rate was achieved using one-stage minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Single tract was used in all cases. Only one case with pyonephrosis suffered from infect shock postoperatively. Totally 26 cases were followed up for average 14 months, 8 cases out of 16 with renal failure recovered after half year, 2 cases need hemodialysis because of renal failure.Conclusions:Minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy is safe and effective in treating Solitary kidney calculi. Compared to traditional PCNL,it may offer advantages with respect to less intraoperative and postoperative complications, high stone free rate, less invasion, easy recovery and short hospitalization stay.
