The Naturalization of Venuti's Theory of Foreignization in China

Abstract

The research of some Chinese translation scholars shows that Venuti's theory of foreignization has been misinterpreted in China.Seen from a different perspective,however,the misinterpretation is itself the naturalization of his theory in China.In the Chinese context,Venuti's theory of foreignization has been altered and naturalized with regard to its concept,purpose,content and application.This phenomenon,in fact,also reflects some deeper problems of the translation field in learning from Western translation theories.
