Abstract
Objective To analyze the distribution of body mass index, overweight and obesity among students aged 7-22 years in 2005 in Anhui province,and to provide evidence for the prevention and control of overweight and obesity. MethodsData were extracted from the National Physical and Health Surveillance of Chinese School students in 2005. ResultsWith the increase of age, BMI increased in different groups.Prevalence of obesity in the 7-9 years old group was the highest among the four age groups; the prevalence of overweight was higher than that of obesity; prevalence of overweight and obesity in urban areas was higher than that in rural areas, and prevalence of overweight and obesity among boys was higher than that among girls. Conclusion In order to promote physical development and prevent overweight and obesity among school students, more attention should be paid to youngsters and particularly the different distribution in various groups.
