Clinical Observation of the Effect of Total Knee Arthroplasty on Osteoarthritis of the Knee

Objective To explore the clinical results of total knee arthroplasty for osteoarthritis of the knee. Methods Eighty-six patients with osteoarthritis of the knee admitted in our hospital from November 2012 to November 2014 were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the observation group with 43 patients in each. Patients in the control group were given the conventional drug treatment, while those in the observation group were treated by total knee arthroplasty. And the VAS and AKS scores of the two groups were compared and analyzed before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the VAS scores were significantly lower in the observation group than those in the control group, the difference was significant(P0.05); the AKS scores of two dimensions in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, the difference was significant(P 0.05). Conclusion For osteoarthritis of the knee, total knee arthroplasty has significant clinical effect, which can significantly relieve the pain of knee, promote the recovery of knee function, so it is worthy of clinical promotion.
