Abstract
The photoelectrolysis of water using the photoelectrochemical cell consisting of TiO2 nanotube array photoanode is one of the most extensive investigated systems for photocatalytic hydrogen production at the present. This paper reviews the new research achievements of TiO2 nanotube arrays on photoelectrocatalytic water splitting for hydrogen production. The methods to increase the photoelectric conversion efficiency and hydrogen production rate are emphasized. The existing problems and further development in this field are also proposed.
