Abstract

With the help of GIS and based on the investigation and analysis of the pollution sources,a study of pollution load of Minjiang River in Fuzhou section over the watershed scale was carried out.The assessment of pollution load was mainly based on COD and NH3-N index,by which the pollution sources and ratios were determined. Results indicated that in the study section,9 371.75 t COD and 992.63 t NH3-N were discharged into Minjiang River, mainly came from industrial sources and urban life. The most polluted watershed was inland rivers in Fuzhou City which accounted for 34.4% of COD discharge and 61.3% of NH3-N discharge.Point source pollution was the main pollution source in inland rivers, and in the north branch of Minjiang River and Moxi river,non-point source pollution was the main pollution source in the main stream of Meixi River as well as in the main stream of Dazhangxi River.
