THE DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH CHARACTERISTICS OF INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL AND CULTURAL GEOGRAPHY OVER THE PAST DECADE——Based on the Analysis of Articles Published in Social and Cultural Geography

Critical social geography and cultural geography have become increasingly popular areas of study in human geography.And at the same time,the boundaries between social geography and cultural geography have gradually blurred.In this context,the Journal of Social and Cultural Geography came into being in 2000,which has grown and become more and more successful over the past decade.First of all,this paper introduces some general information of the journal and its features,and also analyzes the 516 published articles from various aspects,such as the changes in the number of articles published,the distribution of case studies and the areas of research attention.Based on the above statistical analysis,the present paper focuses on the content analysis of 22 key issues established in this journal,giving a general overview of hot topics and popular approaches in this field in recent 10 years.The findings demonstrate that classic questions on the relation between the social and spatial remain,such as inequality,exclusion and marginalization,which arises the scholars' interests in gender,race,religion,ethnicity and disadvantaged groups et al.The work conducted in the present paper hopes to give some insights into the understanding of the newest changes and development trends of international social and cultural geography,and tries to provide some inspiration for raising the level of domestic research,broadening new research areas and strengthening international cooperation.
