An Exploration on Popularizing New Cultural Geography

New cultural geography focuses on the relations between the space of geography and the social,political and economic phenomena,and inquires their multiple meanings.Compared to the West,the universities teaching new cultural geography in China are not practiced.Although the new cultural geography is popular in Anglo-American academia,the traditional cultural geographies are emphasized in China.The new cultural geography is neglected by most of scholars too.However,there are more and more practical problems and examples in nowadays China which are related to new cultural geography,such as social space, gender,power and space.So it should be taught more knowledge and thought on new cultural geography in China in the future. In the process of teaching and studying,there are four key points.Firstly,the scholars should grasp the concept of values because it is the core of culture.Secondly,the researchers should link the values to the space,landscape,place,environment and other geographical concepts.Thirdly,the method of typical cases analysis can inspire researchers′interests.Finally,the scholars will gradually master the methods of analyzing cases by themselves own practices.
