Study on parental rearing style of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder

Objective:To explore the parental rearing style of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD).Method:Using Yale-Brown obsessive-compulsive scale(Y-BOCS)and egna minnen av barndoms uppfostran(EMBU)to evaluate 88 parents of patients with OCD 54 contral group.Results:The fathers of patients with OCD had average score of(10.75±4.08)on factor rejecting which was significantly higher than (8.78±1.80)in normal men(t=3.928,P0.01).The factor overprotection score(39.30±6.80)of mothers of patients with OCD was significantly higher than(29.15±5.10)of normal women(t=2.175,P0.05),but there were no significant differences on other factors between parents of patients with OCD and normal people.Conclusion:The parents of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder show lower emotional warmth and understanding,but show excessive punishment,refusal and deny to their children in rearing style.It is necessary to make psychological intervention on parents of patients with OCD earlier to improve the rearing style.
