Numerical Simulation on Aerodynamic Performance of Wind Turbine Airfoils with Different Curvature

Abstract

As one of the most important foundations of wind turbine aerodynamic design and optimum operation,the aerodynamic performance analysis of wind turbine airfoil is widely used.This paper makes the simulation of the aerodynamic performance of airfoil NACA4412 with relative camber of 4%by using NUMECA software,and the results are accordant with the experimental data.Based on which,the paper simulates and analyzes the aerodynamic performance of three airfoil of NACA2412,NACA4412 and NACA6412 with different lift drag coefficient and lift-drag ratio,as well as the flow condition at the attack angle of 8°and 14°.The simulation shows that the airfoil with small camber is more suitable for running at a higher attack angle than that of larger curvature.
