Clinical Observation on Acupuncture plus Moving Cupping for Depression

Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effect of using acupuncture and moving cupping for treating depression.Methods Sixty-four patients with depression were randomized into a treatment group and a control group,32 in each.The treatment group was managed by acupuncture plus moving cupping,and the control group was managed by acupuncture only.The Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD) was adopted in evaluating the clinical effect before and after treatment.Result After six treatment courses,both the comparisons of HAMD score and clinical effect between the two groups showed significant difference(P0.05).Conclusion The combination of acupuncture and moving cupping is an effective method for treating depression.
