Abstract

Through a nonparametric Malmquist index approach, this paper has analysed total factor productivity change in China's agriculture industry with provincial panel data from 1995 to 2005, which is decomposed into technical efficiency and technical progress. Results shows that that China's TFP growth performance of the interim changes and there are differences between regions. Technology progress promotes China's agricultural TFP growth which due to agricultural biotechnology development and using agricultural equipment.
