Abstract
Agriculture is related to country’s stability and people’s lives and it is the basis for national economic development.The key of agricultural development is to improve agricultural efficiency.The paper evaluates total factor productivity(TFP)of China’s agriculture based on provincial data during 2000-2008.In addition,it analyzes the reason for total factor productivity(TFP)changes and regional disparity of China’s agricultural industry through calculating the Malmquist index and its decomposition.The main conclusions are as follows:TFP of agricultural industry is increasing during the sample period,the main driving force to TFP growth of agriculture is technical progress,while technical efficiency is the constraint by it.
