Abstract

Aiming at decreasing the NO x emission from an automotive direct injection diesel engine without significiant penalty of other emissions and fuel economy,an experimental study was conducted to understand the effects of EGR rates on engine performance and emission under a wide range of speed and load.During the experiment NO x and particulate curves generated from ECE R49 13 speed and load point (SLP) and the performance of the diesel engine with EGR were analyzed. The modes which should be added EGR and the optimal EGR rate was finally selected according to the experimental results under the SLP with EGR.
