Abstract
Objective:To observe the effect of administering diltiazem(Dil)intravenously on patients, who live in Aden,Capital of Republic of Yemen, with unstable angina(UA).Methods: 52 hospitalized UA patients who had poor responds to the nitrates were administered intravenously of Dil with a dosage of 5 μg/(kg·min).Corresponding doses of Dil in oral formulation were prescribed if the angina kept in silence for more than 72 hours at this dosage and inefficiency was defined as uncontrolled angina attacking at this dosage.Besides the symptom, heart rate, blood pressure,ECG and some side effects such as hypotension, arrhythmias, and heart failure were also observed during the trail.(Results:) Angina attack was controlled in 48.The cumulative effective rate was 92.31%.The heart rate, blood pressure,or the rate pressure product were decreased gradually during the medication, which contributed to the angina controlling. No acute myocardial infarction or severe side effects occurred during the trail except one case of reversible type Ⅱ grade AVB and one case of transient nonsymptomatic sinus arrest.(Conclusion:) Dil could be favorable dr μg to the unstable angina patients, especially the nitrate-inefficacious ones.
