The relationship between the perinatal hypoxia and expression of placenta growth factor in patients with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy

Objective:To explore the relationship between the expression level of placenta growth factor(PLGF) in placentas and perinatal hypoxia of patients with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy(ICP).Methods:Samples were obtained from 40 cases with ICP and 40 normal third trimester pregnant women(control group) to observe the perinatal hypoxia of the two groups.Placenta growth factor level in placentas of the two groups was detected by immunohistochemistry method.Results:Perinatal hypoxia rate of ICP group was significantly higher than that of the control group(32.5% vs 7.5%,P0.025);Placenta growth factor expression level in placentas of ICP group was lower than that of the control group significantly(P0.01);An increasing trend of perinatal hypoxia rate following the decrease of placenta growth factor expression level was found(P0.05).Conclusion:The lower expression of PLGF in placentas from ICP patients affects placenta function,which may be one of the reasons leading to perinatal hypoxia.
