The effect of Tongxinluo on the vascular endothelial function in patients with syndrome X

Abstract

Objective To investigate the protective effect of Tongxinluo on the vascular endothelial function in patients with syndrome X.Methods 37 patients with syndrome X were divided into two groups by using a randomized, control and single blind method,Tongxinluo group( n = 19)and routine treatment group( n = 18) ,with a treatment couse of 8 weeks for both groups.The flow-mediated dilatation(FMD)function in brachial artery was measured by high-resolusion ultrasound and plasma endothelin-1( ET-1) was detected before and after treatment. Results The FMD function in brachia lartery and the level of plasma ET-1 in Tongxinluo group were improved obviously, there was a significant difference between Tongxinluo group and routine treatment group( P 0.01.)Conclusion Tongxinluo can improve the vascular endothelial function of paitents with syndrome X.
