Abstract

A genetic epidemiologic case-control study with 297 pedigrees (79 genealogies and 198 controls) was carried out to estimate the segregation ratio and hereditability (h2) of gastric cancer by the methods of Li-Mantel-Gart and Falconer. The results showed that the segregation ratio of gastric cancer was 0.1206,significantly less than 0.25,and the genetic model belonged to polygenetics. The h2 of gastric cancer was 21.42%,with 18.23% for male and 31.53% for female. It is indicated that genetic factor is one of the risks for gastric cancer, but it is not a main risk for high incidence of gastric cancer in Taixing County.
