On Translation Equivalence from Language and Cultural Divergence

Abstract

According to Nida's equivalence theory,there exists a limitation in translation equivalence due to cultural divergence and language difference of the source language and target language.Over-loaded or under-loaded translation in some situations is unavoidable.Therefore,absolute equivalence is impossible to be acquired;equivalence can only be acquired in terms of proximity.
