Abstract
Before and after the second phase of sluice of the Three-Gorges Reservoir when its water level reaches 135 m, the general quality of the water in the tributaries of the Changjiang River which empty themselves into the reservoir remains stable. Special eutrophic monitoring, however, shows that the activities of phytoplanktons in some sections of a few typical tributaries are quite heavy and trophic abnormalities occur. Therefore, the eutrophication of water in these tributaries should be given serious attention to.
