Abstract
The technique of storing XML data in RDBMS affects significantly the querying performance of XML information stored in it when taking no account of the hardware environments. This paper discusses the actualities of the recent researches on XML storage. It classifies the techniques into two categories,model-mapping approach and structure-mapping approach. It analyzes the virtue and deficiency of the related schemes based on the considerations for query processing efficiency. And hereby it proposes two issues for future XML storage researches, including multi-dimensional processing on node paths and efficient modification-validating support on XML data.
