Abstract
The double pipelines of pre-stressed concrete cylinder pipe(PCCP) with the super large diameter of 4 m are adopted in the Mid-route of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project;among which 40% of the length covered with the earth of 5 m thick and the mix.designed earth coverage thickness of 10 m.The calculation method of the vertical earth pressure under various placing conditions for the PCCP pipeline is described herein, and then the calculation results of the placement modes and all the suitable conditions for all the formulas concerned are also presented by taken the construction of the PCCP pipeline of the Mid-route of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project as the study case. The comparison is finally made between both the calculated values and the measured data.
