An Analysis of the Influence of Folk Belief on Social Stability during the Period of Social Transformation

Folk belief,as a form of religious culture,had ever played an important role in Chinese history. During the period of transformation,social beliefs have become revived and booming and demonstrated a series of new trends and characteristics.Although,to a certain extent,social belief performs the function of social safety valve,large groups of beliefs can bring challenges to harmony and stability.Because of its spontaneity and incompactness,social beliefs will become more uncertain with the development of transformation.In the transformation period during which the legal system is incomplete,the common faith of the society is lacking and the civic consciousness is continuously emphasized,how to deal with the dominant problems and potential threats associated with folk beliefs has become an important issue that we have to face squarely.
