The Advent and Flourish of Buddhist Art in China

The 300 years from the East Han to the Southern and Northern dynasties saw a fundamental change in the Chinese social mode. The appearance of minor ethnic powers broke through the unified reign of the centralized dynasties and brought a shock to the Central Plain culture. With the introduction of Buddhism and Buddhist art, China began to build and develop its own aesthetic value system.
