Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of cryotherapy for stages 3~4 retinopathy of prematurity cryotherapy. Methods We compared the 14 cases(27 eyes) that had undergone the cryotherapy with the 10 cases(20 eyes) that had not undergone the cryotherapy for stages 3~4 retinopathy of prematurity for 12 months, and observed the prognosis of cryotherapy for stages 3~4 retinopathy of prematurity(retinal detachment retinal fold involving the macula and abnormal retrolental tissue). Results Cryotherapy could reduce the frequency of detachment, retinal fold involving the macula,or abnormal retorlental tissue and blindness or poor visual acuity, and be better in 3 ROP than in 4 ROP.Conclusion Cryotherapy for stages 3~4 retinopathy of prematurity would control or delay the advance of vitreoretinopathy and steady the visual acuities in future.
