Abstract

Cultural traditions of upholding mean and advocating harmony is the important resources of the view of regarding harmony as beauty,which was put forward by Confucius;Confucius' thought on regarding harmony as beauty derived from the background conditions of the disharmonious society in which propriety was broken and music was fallen in the late Spring and Autumn Period;the golden mean is the philosophical foundation of the thought that harmony is regarded as beauty by Confucius.
