Abstract
Objective To understand the characteristics of human echinococcosis in Shiqu County,Sichuan Province, and provide the scientific base for treatment. Methods The blood serum samples from 237 sufferers in Shiqu County and 4 townships were collected and analysed by serological ELISA.Results The total serological positive rate of echinococcosis was 95.4%,and 92.5% for male and 97.2% for female. The positive rates of alveolar echinococcosis(AE) and cystic echinococcosis(CE) disease for male and female were 41.7%(48/115),58.3%(67/115) and 34.2%(38/111),65.8%(73/111),respectively.Conclusion The morbidity rate of echinococcosis in this study area was very high and both of AE and CE were also prevalent. The serological positive rate of echinococcosis for female was obviously higher than that for male, and with a tendency of going up as the age increased.
