Abstract
Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing (RPM) technique and Rapid Tooling (RT) technique are introduced in this paper. Rapid Tooling based on Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing can be divided into plastics mould, castable mould, punch mould, forge mould etc according to the function; it can also be divided into soft tooling and hard tooling. The main manufacture techniques of the Rapid Tooling based on Rapid Prototyping are introduced in this paper. According to the different manufacture techniques, Rapid Tooling can be divided into direct tooling and indirect tooling, and the characteristics and problems of the hard tooling and soft tooling are analyzed and compared with each other. In the end, the applications of the rapid tooling based on Rapid Prototyping are prospected.
