Clinical Observations on the Efficacy of Scalp Acupuncture as a Main Treatment for Apoplectic Sequela

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of scalp acupuncture in treating apoplectic sequela.Methods Seventy patients with apoplectic sequela were randomly allocated to two groups.The treatment group of 43 cases received scalp acupuncture plus body acupuncture and tongue acupuncture and the control group of 27 cases,body acupuncture and tongue acupuncture.The therapeutic effects were evaluated.Results The efficacy rate was 95.3% in the treatment group and 77.8% in the control group.The efficacy rate was significantly higher in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.01).The neural deficit score(P0.01),plasma specific viscosity(P0.01),fibrinogen(P0.01) and hematocrit(P0.01) were decreased in the treatment group compared to control group.Hemiplegia,headache,dizziness and pale complexion improved more in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Scalp acupuncture has a positive therapeutic effect on apoplectic sequela.
