Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the regulatory effect of pidotimod on Th subsets of children with recurrent respiratory tract infections(RRTIs).METHODS A total of 70 RRTI patients were randomly assigned into the pidotimod group and the control group,for observation of Th1 and Th2 cell subset changes before and after treatment of these patients.RESULTS The Thl/Th2 ratio was comparatively consistent between the two groups before treatment(P0.05);after treatment,the Th1/Th2 ratio was significantly increased in the pidotimod group(P0.01) and insignificantly altered in the control group(P0.05),in comparison to that prior to treatment,and the difference between the two groups was significant(P0.01).The obviously effective rate and total effective rate were evidently higher in the treatment group than the control group(71.4% vs.17.1%,94.3% vs.65.7%;both P0.01).CONCLUSION Pidotimod may ameliorate the cell immune function of RRTI children through regulating the balance of Th1/Th2 cells,so as to elevate the ability of resistance against invasion of exogenous pathogenic microorganisms for children.Due to the accurate,safe and reliable efficacy of pidotimod for treatment of RRTI,it deserves clinical promotion.
