Abstract

Objective To explore the way of demonstrating neurons in sciatic nerve injury. Methods A model for resection of sciatic nerve was used. L4-6 spinal cord was taken, and sectioned (paraffin embectling) and stained in brilliant cresyl violet. Results The number for magnocellular and middle cellur neurons in lateral nucleus of L4 6 spinal anterior horn of injury animals was lower than that of normal control, with a blurred profile of Nissl bodies. Conclusion The visualization of Nissl body with staining brilliant cresyl violet is available in the morphological study of nerve injury, including sciatic nerve injury.
