On Adam Smith's Ideas of Human Nature

The so-called “problem of Adam Smith”raised by the economists of German history school in mid-19th century didn't exist.In the “Theory of Moral Sentiments”,Adam Smith thinks that both self-interest and altruism are the expressions of human nature ;man is not absolute egoist or altruist . In the “An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations”,Adam Smith bases his economic theory on man's self-interest.This is only the need of the economics research and can't prove that Adam Smith has changed his ideas of human nature.
