Abstract
On the basis of the foundation laid during Song Dynasty (960- 1279) and Jin Dynasty (1115- 1234), cities during Yuan Dynasty (1271- 1386 ) developed quickly. Large theatres were the eye-catching structures in cities; poetic dramas during Yuan Dynasty were a popular entertainment in urban areas; the outstanding playwrights of poetic dramas, together with actors and actresses were the celebrities in cultural circles. These three factors constitute the source of China's urban culture.
