Abstract

Washe (tile-roofed house) culture was a culture of the common people. The dramas of the Yuan Dynasty grew and matured among the commons and was essentially a popular culture. This paper studies the popular cultural characteristics of the dramas of the Yuan Dynasty by investigating the plebification of stage images, the viewpoints towards love and marriage, the legal ideas, the language, the entertainment effects, the types of stage images and the similarities in plots.
