Abstract
Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effects of pterygium treated by bottom and top limbal stem cell autograft transplantation. Methods 100 eyes of 83 patientes with pterygium were divided into two groups, each group had 50 eyes, and there are 5 patientes(8 eyes) had beed losted to follow-up.They were treated by bottom and top limbal stem cell autograft transplantation. All the patients have been followed 2 years. Results Parts of the two groups were derived of white clouds or spots shade in corneal limbal area, but the conjunctival sites had no scar. The bottom limbal stem cell transplantation group's average healing time of the epithelial corneal wound was 5.51(5.51±1.14)days,and the other group was 6.35(6.35±1.20)days,the difference had statistical significance(F=3.727,P0.05).the bottom limbal stem cell transplantation group had 1 eye recurrence,it's recurrence rate was 2.22%;and there were 7 eyes recurrenced in the bottom limbal stem cell transplantation group,it's recurrence rate was 14.89%,the difference had statistical significance(χ2=4.78,P0.05).Conclusion Not only can limbal stem cell transplantation make the corneal wound repairing quickly, but also reduce the recurrence rate,so it is an ideal surgical method. The corneal epithelial healing time of bottom limbal stem cell transplantation is shorter,And the scar left on the part of the limbus of eye surgery patients later had no effect on the anatomy and should be widely applied.
