Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of latanoprost in the treatment of high intraocular pressure. Methods 46 patients with high intraocular pressure and open-angle glaucoma(92 eyes) were randomly divided into the study group and the control group, with 23 cases in each group. The patients in the study group were given latanoprost one time per day,and that in the control group were given timolo two times per day,12 weeks for a period. The intraocular pressure fluctuations before and after the treatment were observed. Results The intraocular pressure fluctuation of the patients in the two groups reduced significantly after treatment, compared with that before the treatment(P0.05).The night intraocular pressure fluctuation of the patients in the study group were significantly lower than that of the control group(P0.01),while the daytime intraocular pressure of the patients in the two groups showed no statistically significant difference(P0.05).The heart rate after the treatment in the control group was significantly lower that that before the treatment(P0.05),while that before and after the treatment in the study group showed no statistically significant differences(P0.05).Conclusion Latanoprost can lower the intraocular pressure effectively, with a small dose and few adverse reactions.
