Abstract

The Scholars in the Han Dynasty unanimously claimed that “36 monarchs' murdering and 52 states' disenthronement was recorded in Confucius' Autumn and Spring Annals. This is one of the important evidence to testify the authenticity of Confucius' Autumn and Spring Annals. The statement of “36 monarchs' murdering and 53 states' disenthronement indicates that there were 36 cases of killing monarchs and 52 cases of demolishing states. Mr. NIU Hong-en in his article Textual Research of 36 Monarchs' Murdering and 52 States' Disenthronement, arbitrarily gave his own subjective definition of this statement and neglected the historical fact. He denied scornfully not only the academic value of my research, but also the historical contribution of Confucius' compiling of the Autumn and Spring Annals. Unfortunately Mr.NIU's argument is really “unreasonable.
