Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of Chang An Kang Capsule combined with mesalazine on the treatment of ulcerative colitis. Methods: Overall 60 cases with ulcerative colitis were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group with 30 cases respectively. Patients in the control group were given mesalazine enteric-coated tablets, 3 times a day, 0.5g each time; besides taking mesalazine like patients in the control group, patients in the observation group were administered Chang An Kang Capsule 4.4g a day. After one month treatment, the changes of SOD and GSH-PX levels as well as the time the clinical symptoms improved were compared before and after treatment in both groups; meanwhile, the ulcer degrees observed by colonoscopy would be presented in two groups. Results: The levels of SOD and GSH-PX in the observation group were higher than that in the control group(P0.05); the improved time of symptoms like abdominal pain and distention, hematochezia, tenesmus and diarrhea in the observation group was faster than that in the control group(P0.05); the ulcer degrees in and belowⅡ level determined by colonoscopy in the observation group were more than the control group(P0.05). Conclusion: The integration of Chang An Kang Capsule and mesalazine in treating ulcerative colitis can effectively inhibit the body impairment from oxygen free radicals, relieve clinical symptoms and improve the therapeutic effect.
